Friday, February 22nd 2013:

11:00am – 12:15pm: Writing Workshop with Joelle Anthony (In the Madrona Room)

Tickets are $40 and are not included in other passes.
Creating Memorable Characters:  Joëlle Anthony teaches you how to create quick characters to get you writing, examines the character clichés that permeate books, and  explains how to avoid them. Learn to make even the smallest character in your fiction well-rounded and memorable.

1:00pm – 5:00pm: Writing Workshop with Audrey Thomas (In the Madrona Room)

Short Fiction “Friendly” Workshop! Bring paper and pens, creative energy and a desire to learn the art of writing a short story from one of Canada’s most celebrated writers, Galiano’s own Audrey Thomas. SOLD OUT!!! 7:00pm – Welcome Reception! (In the Lounge)

This ticket is intended for those who may not have time to attend any sessions, but would like a chance to mingle with authors, listen to Live Music by local island artists, and enjoy a good cocktail party.

10:00am – 12:00pm: Keynote Presentation & Panel Discussion (In the Dining Room)

Our Keynote Presentation will be given by Kevin Chong. This year, “It’s All About the Story”: Panelists Robert Bringhurst, Annabel Lyon, Mark Leiren0Young, and others TBA will answer the questions like:  How do you see storytelling from your genre? Do you think some writers have it easier than others? Is it easier to weave a fictional tale than to tell one that really happened? Moderated by Brad Frenette of the CBC.

7:00pm – Authors’ Dinner (in the Dining Room) Tickets $30.00:  A perfect way to round out the first day of programming!
